The South Jersey Emerging Journalists Project (SJEJP) is an independent initiative dedicated to supporting content creators and emerging journalists from underserved communities across Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, and Atlantic counties.
Through fellowships, partnerships, and community engagement, SJEJP works to ensure that South Jersey’s diverse stories are told, heard, and shared.
The SJIEP fellowships play a critical role in improving local journalism in New Jersey by addressing long-standing issues of representation and equity in newsrooms.
Donyéa, a seasoned and gifted storyteller, wanted to amplify his platform, which is known for spotlighting the culture and unique tapestry of Black communities across New Jersey.
The affordable housing crisis has deeply affected New Jersey residents for some time now and with the rising cost of living, it is hard for families to catch a break.
Although new housing is being built, only a certain amount is required by law to be allocated as affordable units. And now municipalities across the state have until the end of January to address the mandate to add or restore some 150,000 units of affordable housing by 2035.

The South Jersey Information Equity Project has concluded its third year of reporting fellowships, with fellows covering a record number of stories of importance to South Jersey communities.
